I've known this song for forever, but I only saw this music video recently, and I think it's real purty.
Ugh, anyway, I should probably get back to drawing stuff.

Be A Hero [09 Nov 2009|09:30pm]

Requests aren't done, they will be popping up as we go, but honestly I do not need annnyymooreee! I was looking at the Wonder Women that I drew last year and started drawing her again, because she's pretty fun to draw, and surly Wonder Woman here came out. Don't settle for being a tits and tits heroine ladies, be yourself! Poor Nibbles.

Hey Montreal! I'm going to be at Expozine this weekend! You should come.

I get really freaked out about some of those drawings! If I drew that Crazy Fish or that Crazy Snake in my sketchbook today I would post them on the internet.

I might upload the whole episode, there's a bit with me pretending to be a bee, and a really cool Paddington Bear short. Also there's more of that red headed girl acting CRAZY.

Watch the trailer. Movie looks like it could be super cute! I'm getting all sorts of Linguini vibes from the main kid, though, hmm. The viking chicks are too cute, really unclassically adorable which is great.

Also, please watch the trailer for this:

http://www.baidir.fr/
and get absolute GOOSEBUMPS. I guess it's going to be a series? I can't find much information on it, but I guess some guys from Gobelins is/was working on it. Sweeeeet. I'd like to know more

Also, I watched Monsters vs. Aliens with my nephew a couple days ago. While it really wasn't amazing, and the humans had wretched designs, I have to say that I really liked Susan's character development. She went from wanting nothing more in life than to be a blushing bride to suddenly wanting nothing more than to be a giant woman who fights robots. Like, it wasn't just a metaphor to be more self confident, she literally wanted to fight things and be huge and punch through steel. That was really fun
And there was a bit in the movie where a couple at lovers lane sees a spaceship crash land, and I just loved how the roles were reversed in that scene. The girl was trying to get into the guys pants, and he was terrified of the spaceship and the girl wanted to go check it out. That was really great, I'm sure it went right over the heads of kids

SO. Is there anything amazing coming out any time soon? Princess And The Frog is looking better all the time, honestly! I really hope it does not suck
I can already tell that Dr. Facillier is gonna be one of my fav disney villains

I love voodoo stuff in movies

Canadian cast of characters [07 Nov 2009|05:40pm]

beatonna

Well, I used a lot of the suggestions that came my way from that post the other day! I was pretty pleased with the turnout of readers for that question, I must admit. I guess it's because you hear a lot that people don't give a darn about history in this country, if depressing yearly polls from the Dominion Institute mean anything, but it's clearly not the case among my livejournal followers. You guys are great!

I had to do a general sweep that involved a good range of places, professions, backgrounds and time periods, so you know, not everyone's favorite author is going to be in there but I sure did like the range in suggestions. Looking at it now I wish I had someone from the NWT (not one! for shame) and New Brunswick. Stompin Tom is from New Brunswick but he's also sort of from everywhere.  I could have put the Irvings in there, I think they control history in NB as well as anything else.

I was all crazed out with strep throat while I did this, but listening to Radiolab shows and a burning passion for Canada I guess(?) kept me going.  You can find the image in today's National Post, along with an article about the Historica/Dominion merger! Interesting stuff.

[ music | Iko Iko - The Belle Stars ]

You and me, we all like livejournal. Lately it feels like it's running a little dry, I'm guessing it's because of twitter (@wolfhard)? Here are some of my favorite livejournals that are still posting like crazy*. ([info]beatonna also makes lists like these. She would be listed bellow because she is the best at comics but I think everyone reading this already knows and follows her. If you don't then you are nutz.)

[info]nedroidcomics Everyone probably already knows how funny and smart these comics are, but if you don't they are the total funniest. Anthony produces a rich feed.

[info]davario Dave has the best line work and the most appealing drawings! Also he's doing a Brovember, drawing fellas all month long. Get on board!

[info]royalboiler Brandon Graham posts a PILE of amazing things all of the time. His own work is amazing, his girlfriend's work is amazing, his friends' work is amazing. He produces a rich trove of content all of the time. What a great journal.

[info]r_dart Rebecca Dart is possibly the most talented person I've ever met, she is out of control. You may have seen this comic featured recently on Drawn.ca, holy cow so good). I had the good fortune to work with her on a kids' cartoon last year, she is the definition of tops.

[info]bougieman Robin Bougie is married to Rebecca Dart and his livejournal is NOT WORK SAFE, (but is wonderful). This journal is a wild collection of the filthiest drawings and kitten youtubes. You should be following this guy.

[info]bottomlesspop Brian does the rad fantasy comic JobGoblin (linked by me many times in the past), but lately he has been doing these cool sprawling doodle pages. Really neat stuff!

[info]jasonturner Jason Turner is like a god-damned poet!

[info]teamdynamite I don't know who this guy is but this stuff knocks my socks off.

[info]bugs_is_icky I have a big big crush on Britt's paintings. She's an amazing artist who does amazing (often filthy) work. She also has an amazing dad. Follow her now so when she gets big you can act smug!

There are so many people missing on this list! I'll do another one of these in the future.

*I'm going to post a new comic next week unless things go haywire.

Quick comics time [05 Nov 2009|08:26pm]

beatonna
What a week! Strep throat, broken website, a commission that took like eighty days (in one week!) to complete, jeepers.

Well it can only mean one thing.

It's quick comics time again, and done by request as is custom (it's about the only time I formally take requests anymore and only on livejournal, you are my special little guys!), so ante up all yous

edit!

Whoa I should mention, I think some people have the idea that I will do all the requests! There are always way too many, that is impossible, I just do some. But I read them all, and some of them will be turned into bigger comics, you never know.

[ music | The Cat Empire - All That Talking ]

The weather is getting colder and wetter.  I know from history that these changes put stress on my mutant old-man spine and that the end result is the application of a pathetic cost-benefit analysis which ranks the priority of my various obligations.  There is the statutory interpretation assignment to complete this week, for instance, and I must read at least some things that have also been assigned so that I know what is happening in different classes.  Regular attendance of those classes, in contradistinction, ranks somewhere below the allegorical arm-wrestle required to lull my mutant old-man spine into allowing for six or seven hours of sleep per sun-cycle.

History teaches that these things must be done in the order of their priority or else I will be incapable of doing any of them.  Nevertheless it remains troublesome to me that I am so busy because my health requires that I not allow myself to be too busy.  Mostly because it is difficult to produce a practical distinction between being tremendously busy trying not to be too busy and simply being lazy.  Particularly now that I am surrounded by motivated and intelligent people whom I like but with whom I generally cannot keep up.  The balancing act was easier to maintain in my undergraduate career because I was not taking classes with anyone who made for compelling conversation.

----

In Constitutional Law yesterday we learned about parliament's criminal law-making power.  This has not yet been super-interesting because it is just an instance of the division of powers between federal and provincial governments which we have been talking about for weeks already.  Also because the cases which best illustrate this are not strictly criminal cases at all.  The leading case is RJR-MacDonald v. Canada, which is about the promotion of tobacco products.  This lacks the pizazz of your average case in an actual criminal law class, perhaps.  Where are all the manslaughters at?

Halloween Parade! [04 Nov 2009|01:38pm]

tasteslikeevil

Oh man, so Halloween in WRJ was a total blast this year. I didn't end up taking any pictures myself, but you can see plenty of pictures other people took of this year's parade and subsequent dance party here, here, here and here.

Also, our Werewolf! anthology just got a special Halloween shout out on the Groovy Age of Horror blog. So that's pretty cool too!

[ music | Grandaddy - Pull the Curtains ]

Usually on Mondays there is no class until 1:30, but TODAY we had a makeup class for Contracts at 11:30.  Lame!  Except I actually have to get up for a meeting at 11:30 with my Pro Bono volunteer group on Mondays anyway, so this did not effect my regular morning schedule at all.  Well, except that I went to Contracts instead of the meeting.  But the meeting was cancelled anyway. So actually this make-up class was an exceptional inconvenience.

In the future "EAT IT NATE" will replace "Read more" as the default value for lj-cut text.
